A beekeeper worked to disperse a swarm of bees that had gathered at a stadium in the state of Arizona. A rousing round of applause was given to him by the audience.

“That was so insane. I was under the impression that it was going to be a fascinating adventure. “I mean, I’m going to Chase Field and playing against the Dodgers and the Diamondbacks,” Hilton said in an interview with Don Riddell of CNN Sport.

“So I knew it was going to be a cool experience, but it wasn’t until I went out on the field in the buggy and the fans were just going crazy that it kind of hit me just how big of a deal this was, and it just turned out to be a really neat experience for me,” she said. “It was very exciting.”

While he was getting to work, spraying and extracting the bees with a vacuum, Hilton strolled onto the pitch to the music of Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out for a Hero” and chants of “Most Valuable Player.” According to the league, the bees were supposed to be released after the event would have taken place.

Eventually, Hilton was rewarded for his efforts by being given the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

“When I got on the field, I saw how loud the crowd was when I did a couple of fist bumps, and I thought to myself, ‘Ay, I’m going to get a couple more fist bumps and play to this a little bit,’ and it kind of helped loosen my nerves a little bit as well, so it definitely helped me out, and I just decided to have fun with it,” she mentioned.

Hilton, who works for Blue Sky Pest Control, received the call while he was sitting at his son’s tee-ball game. He reported that his kid, who was six years old at the time, was a little “bummed” that his father had to leave.
