A film concerning a possible “Y2K” will open in December.

SNL alum Kyle Mooney directed Y2K, which A24 released its debut trailer. The film, which opens December 6, imagines a future where the Y2K computer collapse causes chaos.

On New Year’s Eve 1999, two high school outcasts, Eli (Martell) and Danny (Dennison), crash the last large party of the decade. When midnight approaches, an ordinary adolescent party turns into a series of hilarious and terrible Y2K bug-related incidents.

The A24 apocalyptic comedy ‘Y2K’, starring Jaeden Martell, Rachel Zegler, and Julian Dennison, has an official trailer. Kyle Mooney directed the picture, which opens December 6.

A24 published the “Y2K” trailer. Jaeden Martell, Rachel Zegler, and Julian Dennison feature in the apocalyptic comedy set on 1999’s last night. The teaser shows murderous machines that bring a lethal twist to the comic. A Tamagotchi drills a hole in someone’s head, a VHS player tapes high school kids, and a pink toy vehicle burns someone.

The film follows two high school juniors who crash a New Year’s Eve party. What begins as a fun night becomes a survival struggle. The film is called a “dial-up disaster comedy” for its mix of apocalyptic and comedic themes. The cast comprises new and established actors. The film stars Martell, Zegler, Dennison, The Kid Laroi, Fred Durst, Lachlan Watson, Daniel Zolghadri, Eduardo Franco, Mason Gooding, Lauren Balone, Tim Heidecker, and Alicia Silverstone.

Saturday Night Live veteran Kyle Mooney directs “Y2K.” The script was co-written by Mooney and Evan Winter. The film’s producers include actor and producer Jonah Hill.

In the months leading up to January 1, 2000, people envisioned all kinds of worldwide nightmare scenarios, but none were as ludicrous as Kyle Mooney’s Y2K, A24’s new disaster comedy.

Y2K, set on New Year’s Eve 1999, follows a group of youngsters who organise (or attend) the party of a lifetime to celebrate the new millennium. The Y2K bug is well known, but Eli (Jaeden Martell), Danny (Julian Dennison), and Laura (Rachel Zegler) can only think about meeting at the rager and how it could impact their lives. When the power goes off at midnight, the youngsters laugh and think someone is pranking. They don’t know what to do when two appliances come to life and try to kill them.

Ironically, Y2K’s video shows a lot of the lunacy that prompted people to buy toilet paper and water in bulk out of concern that a programming error would bring down our electronic infrastructure. The picture seems to go so far into absurdity and nonsense that it may be irritating to watch when it hits theatres on December 6th.
