Shakira informed fans that her concert will be moved up to coincide with ‘La Guacherna’, a Barranquilla Carnival highlight.

Shakira has moved her Barranquilla concert from February 21 to February 20, 2024. The artist expressed her desire to celebrate La Guacherna with her local audience on X.

La Guacherna, one of the most famous events of the Barranquilla Carnival, kicks off a festive season. Shakira performs to join this cultural tradition and connect with her fans.

The announcement comes after Barranquilla businessman Christian Daes suggested the artist change her concert date to avoid conflicting with the event. Shakira changed the date for him despite this suggestion.

Shakira announced new dates for her upcoming ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women Don’t Cry Anymore)’ tour in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Colombia on October 2nd, exciting her Latin American fans.

Everyone was talking about her February 21, 2025 performance in Barranquilla, her hometown. It’s significant because she hasn’t done it on her world tours in almost 20 years. The last Shakira tour to Barranquilla was the Fijación Oral tour in November 2006. She’s ignored her hometown for world tours like Sale el Sol and El Dorado, performing only in Bogotá.

Shakira briefly appeared at the 2018 Central American Games closing ceremony in Barranquilla, but she didn’t tour. Locals were excited when she announced her return to ‘La Arenosa’ (the city’s nickname).

Why did Shakira Change Her Barranquilla Concert Date?
Both her hometown return and the date made waves. La Guacherna, Barranquilla’s biggest pre-carnival event, was scheduled for February 21, 2025. Many locals turned out for Shakira’s concert on the same day as Barranquilla’s funfair, one of South America’s biggest.

Shakira postponed her concert until February 20 on October 4. I’ve asked the Barranquilla concert organisers to move it to February 20 to celebrate La Guacherna with my people. Shakira will perform in La Arenosa after many years and celebrate La Guacherna together.

The Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour will bring Grammy winner Shakira back to Latin America. The tour begins in Rio de Janeiro on February 11 and stops in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Chile, and Colombia. The international star will return to Barranquilla, Colombia, for the first time in 19 years. Artist pre-sale begins Tuesday, October 8th, and general on-sale begins Friday, October 11th.

Shakira announced Latin American Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran Tour dates six months after announcing the North American tour. The global superstar will tour Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Peru, and Colombia next year with Live Nation.

Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour promotes her March album of the same name, her first in seven years. Her set topped Billboard’s Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums charts, making her the first woman to do so in four decades. It received a Latin Grammy album of the year nomination.

Shakira will begin her North American tour on Nov. 2 at Palm Desert’s Acrisure Arena before heading to Latin America. La Mujeres Ya No Lloran will be Shakira’s first tour since her 2018 El Dorado World Tour, which visited stadiums and arenas worldwide. Shakira hinted at touring this year during her 2023 Billboard Latin Music Week Q&A.
