The Marquis declares Winston “excommunicado,” ruins the New York Continental, and has Charon executed as a kind of retribution for him. Winston is also removed from his supervisory duties. After Caine threatens to kill the Marquis’s daughter, the blind former High Table assassin enlists the help of the Marquis to eliminate his old friend John.
