Louisiana wants to restrict abortion pill access.

(Washington) A major cultural issue at the center of the presidential campaign, the abortion pill was qualified as a “dangerous substance” by the lower house of parliament in Louisiana, a state in the American South, on Tuesday. As a result, access to the pill should be restricted.

Since the federal guarantee of abortion was overturned by the US Supreme Court in the summer of 2022, Louisiana has outlawed nearly all abortions. About twenty states have outlawed or severely restricted access to abortion since this reversal of legal precedent.

The State Senate and, if required, the governor of Louisiana still need to adopt the legislation that was passed by the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

It adds drugs, particularly those used in abortions, to the list of “dangerous substances” that are strictly regulated and whose use without a prescription is illegal.

As to the proposed legislation, the act of possessing misoprostol and mifepristone without a medical prescription will result in a five-year prison sentence and a $5,000 fine.

She criticized, “The Louisiana House of Representatives recently passed a bill that would make it illegal to possess abortion pills, with up to several years in prison.”

“Let’s be clear: it’s because of Donald Trump,” she continued. The former president bragged that he was mainly responsible for the Supreme Court’s turnaround, which saw it substantially reorganized under his direction to have a more conservative membership.

However, since this shocking ruling, the conservatives have lost every vote and referendum pertaining to abortion.

Therefore, in an attempt to rally support against the Republican billionaire, the Democrats are making abortion a major campaign issue in November’s presidential election.
